Faceline operates on the head and neck and very little else: two jaw surgery, facial contouring, eyes, nose, forehead, and the lifting work that sits between them. It opened in Apgujeong in 2005 under two representative directors, Dr. Lee Tae-hee and Dr. Lee Jin-soo, both board certified plastic surgeons and both graduates of Seoul National University’s medical school. The division between them is stable rather than rotating: contouring work sits with Dr. Lee Jin-soo, lifting with Dr. Lee Tae-hee. The clinic’s own way of putting it is that a patient who had contouring from one of them comes back ten years later for lifting from the other.
Dr. Lee Tae-hee trained in plastic surgery at Samsung Medical Center, directed plastic surgery at Chung-Ang Hospital, and taught as an adjunct professor at Sungkyunkwan University’s medical school until February 2016.
The one registration in this network that has been verified
Korea licenses the clinics that may treat international patients, and licenses separately the agencies that may introduce them. Of the clinics reviewed for this magazine, Faceline is the one whose registration as an institution for international patients has been confirmed, alongside its status as a Seoul medical tourism cooperating clinic. Everywhere else that box is still marked unverified here, which means we could not confirm it rather than that it is absent.
A narrow practice is a different kind of experience
A surgeon who operates on faces all week meets the same anatomy repeatedly, including its awkward versions. That is the argument for a narrow practice, and it is worth testing at consultation rather than accepting: ask how often the specific operation you are considering is performed here, and by whom.
What the clinic will not do without images
Faceline declines to give an opinion on a revision case until it has clear frontal and profile images and a completed clinical record. A revision is a question about how much room the previous operation left behind, and no written description answers it. An opinion issued before those arrive is an opinion that will change, which is worse for the patient than waiting.
One claim, stated as the clinic’s own
Faceline’s stated position on its mini lift is that it is performed without a drain, and that bleeding and swelling are correspondingly reduced. That is the practice’s claim rather than a finding of this magazine. It is a good opening question at consultation, because the answer will tell you how the surgeon thinks about the operation.
